Teletrade® Commemorative Coin Auction!

New Users Click Here Teletrade® is proud to inaugurate a new sales category February 16, 2003 with its first sale devoted exclusively to United States official Commemorative Coinage which will initiate the first of quarterly auctions of commemorative coins from 1892 to present. Unlike regular issue coinage of the United States, commemorative coins were always produced for collectors and collections, rather than being made for use and general circulation. Consequently, commemorative coins have always held a special cachet in the collecting pantheon of U.S. coins and also offer some of the most varied and interesting design types ever produced by the U.S. Mint.

Teletrade® will be giving away a half dozen Choice to Gem 1918 Lincoln Centennial Commemorative Half Dollars to 6 randomly chosen bidders in this auction! All bidders in this auction will automatically entered to win one of these lovely coins. Winners will be announced in the News section of the Teletrade® website.

This sale will consist of perhaps 300 lots of coins from the 1892 Columbian Exposition Half Dollars up through some issues dated 2002 in primarily silver, gold and some platinum. All lots will be certified by PCGS and NGC only. The coins will be very accessible with lots ranging from $50 up through and over $10,000. Virtually all design types will be represented in this auction, and while many issues are bright and lustrous, others are deeply toned. The average state of preservation of these coins, which are all graded by PCGS or NGC only, is at least MS65, making this a truly special auction.

Some highlights include the following: Lot 1001, 1921 Alabama 2x2 PCGS MS65 Half Dollar, est. $2,000-2,500; Lot 1045, 1936S Cincinnati PCGS MS66 Half Dollar, est. $2,600-3,100; Lot 1091, 1925 Lexington NGC MS66 Half Dollar, est. $1,450-1,850; Lot 1097, 1936 Lynchburg NGC MS67 Half Dollar, est. $1,500-2,000; Lot 1134, 1915S Pan-Pac NGC MS66 Half Dollar, est. $2,900-3,400; Lot 1154, 1935 Spanish Trail PCGS MS66, est. $1,250-1,650; Lot 1160, 1925 PCGS MS67 Stone Mountain Half Dollar, est. $3,200-3,600; Lot 1174, 1927 Vermont NGC MS67 Half Dollar, est. $3,100-3,600.

Among gold commemoratives, lot 1226, 1915S NGC MS65 Pan-Pac Gold Dollar, est. $2,100-2,600; lot 1227 1915S NGC MS67 Pan-Pac Quarter Eagle, est. $10,000-13,000, among the finest known and exceedingly rare; Lot 1228, 1922 Grant-Star PCGS MS64 Gold Dollar, est. $2,500-3,000; Lot 1229, a 1916 McKinley NGC MS67 Gold Dollar, est. $9,500-11,000, a true rarity with none graded higher by NGC; and Lot 1232, a 1926 Sesquicentennial Quarter Eagle, est. $13,000-16,000, a condition census specimen.
